Ladies British Open Amateur at Carnoustie

Rocio Sanchez Lobato of Spain heads out from Linksview Guest House this morning for the final day of the Ladies British Open Amateur competition at Carnoustie.

Down to the last four Rocio faces a big challenge playing number 8 Perrine Delacour of France.

We have enjoyed hosting the 6 members of the Spanish team along with Marta Dotti, their coach. Marta is becoming a regular visitor here, having stayed last year with one of the Spanish pros prior to the Ricoh Womens Open.

More good news for Linksview Guest House and Carnoustie.
The 8th World Hickory Open Championship will take place on the Burnside course at Carnoustie and the Monifieth course from October 8th-9th this year.

Linksview has already taken a room reservation from a Swedish couple who attend regularly.

New Web Site

Linksview Guest House continues to offer accommodation in Carnoustie on a bed and breakfast basis. Following our first successful year last year we have now not only changed the look and feel of our main web site but have added a whole lot of content.

Things to do, places to see, what's on in the area - we have it all.
We have also provided a clickable map showing all the many many golf courses we have to choose from within a very short distance from our lodgings.
You can explore the new site here.

Good News for Carnoustie

We have 2 lots of great news though.
This year will see the World Championships of the World Association of Left Handed Golfers (WALG) taking place in Carnoustie Country.

Players will experience all of Scotscraig, Monifieth, Panumure Barry and Montrose. Panmure and Monifieth are just a few minutes by car from Linksview Guest House of course.

The second piece of good news is that the British Amateur Open championship will be hosted by Carnoustie in 2014. This is on top of the Commonwealth Games shooting competitions that will take place here also in 2014.

A Piece of Carnoustie History

Well, here is a surprise.
The long established Simpsons Golf Shop is now for sale in Carnoustie.
It is not all that long since it changed hands (2009 I think). I know they were trying to get into China and producing replica hickory sticks.

The First Post

A first post in the first week of a new year.

Despite the strong winds the local golfers continue to take on the challenge. We see them at 45 degrees on the 18th fairway of the Championship course just across from our house! You've got to hand it to them.

Recent good news for us as a guest house and the Carnoustie area generally is the announcement that shooting competitions of the 2014 Commonwealth Games will take place on the Barry Buddon military training camp just a mile away. Of course we hope that preparations for this and the actual event itself will bode well for our guest house bookings that year. I understand that a small "athletes village" for 500 will be built in Dundee for the same events.

Paula Creamer who stayed at Linksview Guest House for the Ricoh ladies open last July (2011).

For those of you who are interested in Carnoustie, but live some distance away, please let me know what type of news or events you may be interested in seeing in this blog.
